BANDY’S GANDER BAG – EPISODE TWO
Two items from a single source, the excellent ‘Another Angry Voice’, based in Yorkshire but,
overcoming his inner Geoff Boycott, writes some penetrating material.
Another Angry Voice on Facebook: One of the most extraordinary things about Lib-Dems is their infinite capacity for excuse-making.
Another Angry Voice: Watch Jo Swinson lie through her teeth. They both concern a subject to Bandy Oddindeedington’s heart, the duplicity, opportunism and downright immorality of the Liberal Democrats.
The last sentence of the first item:
‘When it comes to the Lib-Dems there's always an excuse, because cynically betraying their
professed values and then putting on absurd displays of mental gymnastics to defend what they've done is all they're really good for.’
is a variation on this, from J K Galbraith:
‘The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.’
This is not a coincidence.
The recent comings together of the LDs, already the bastard offspring of two less than
coherent parties, and assorted drop outs from both the Tories and the right wing of the
Labour Party demonstrate how far self-seeking people are prepared to corrupt the
democratic process to their own ends. Not a glimmer of self-reproach to be seen.
Today we have the shameless attack on Corbyn’s Labour by the serial party and
parliamentary seat jumper Chuckup Umunna. As usual, the criticisms are all about smearing
and not at all about policy, very shaky ground for a party representing the failed economic
policies of the last 40 years, not to mention the distinctly illiberal views of some of their
joiners – and one former leader.
— Dictated by Bandy Oddindeedington and signed in his absence in the Wheatsheaf by Hugh Jarse.
